Not Everyone Can Wear a Strapless Wedding Dress

Over the years, designers have continued to create wedding gowns with more sophisticated and unique styles and designs. A strapless wedding gown is among the style of choice of many brides for the past few years.  However, not all who adore strapless wedding gowns can wear it on their wedding day. There are body structures which perfectly suit this kind of bridal gown while there are also some body types which do not go well with the style of this wedding dress.

Designers prefer body structures which are proportional. This female body shape is moderately tall, with a body balanced vertically. The hourglass body shape is also perfect for a strapless wedding dress. This is described with a well-defined waist and same width of full hip-line and full bust-line. It can also fit those brides with a triangle body type. This body type is often referred to as a pear shaped body figure. A bride with this kind of body figure has a full bust-line which is narrower than her full hip-line and a well defined waist. Narrow shoulders, full thighs and full rounded bottom are also among its typical characteristics, as well as a balanced body or short legged vertical body shape.

A strapless wedding dress is not recommended for brides who have an inverted triangle body figure. This body shape is characterized with a proportionally large bust and broad shoulders. Narrow hips with well defined waists, flat bottom and long legged vertical body shape with proportionally slim legs are also some of its other characteristics. A strapless wedding dress will emphasize areas certain areas in the body such as the neck, chest, shoulders, waists and arms. Therefore, it is important that the bride has these body areas lean and proportional.

If these body areas are a problem, the bride can choose not to wear a strapless wedding dress or she may opt to wear something to cover up these areas in an elegant way such as wedding shawl, bridal wrap or jacket. It will help increase the curves of the bride in a noble and elegant way. For a bride with a shorter neck, it may be helpful to have a wedding dress with low strapless neckline. Strapless wedding dress will help make the bride with a longer waist, appear to have a more proportional torso. On the other hand, the bride with a shorter waist will need to have a strapless wedding dress style which has a drop waist bodice or a princess line dress.

Since the strapless wedding dress emphasizes the bust area, it is important to design a dress that will perfectly support and fit that particular area. This style of wedding dress are perfect for brides who have an average to slightly full bust line. However, for the bride who do not have the same figures but prefer to wear a strapless gown on the day of her wedding, certain ways can be done to make it possible. For a full busted bride, it is important to be very careful in showing cleavage. The curve of the bust area must perfectly fit the actual curve of the bust. The neckline height must be high as well to prevent too much cleavage showing. Keep in mind that to have the strapless wedding gown that will fit the bride depends on the how smooth the strapless wedding gown fits at the neckline front and back.
