Home Remedies for Gout

Arthritis is a cluster of diseases affecting discs and bones in the human body which may oftentimes lead to disability if left untreated. Common forms of arthritis include rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia and gout. Gout accounts for about five percent of all cases of arthritis. This condition is more common in individuals who are in their 40’s and 50’s. It is found to be nine times more common in males than in females. Gout attacks are the result of deposits and build up of crystals which formed as a result of abnormally high levels of uric acid circulating in the blood. The accumulation of these sodium urate crystals is not the reason for the occurrence of the signs and symptoms of gout. Gout attacks produce pain as a result of the irritation of these crystals when these accumulate around joint areas.

Diagnosing this condition can be achieved by a thorough assessment of signs and symptoms and medical history. Blood tests are also beneficial when identifying the uric acid levels in the blood which is the underlying cause of this condition. The increase in uric acid levels in the blood are usually the result of the body’s fault in terms of metabolizing these waste materials or the body’s excessive production of uric acid. There are also certain health conditions which may increase uric acid levels in the body. Examples of these include diabetes mellitus and malignancy such as in cancer.

Gout attacks are usually characterized by local pain and stiffness. The affected area may appear swollen and reddish as a result of an inflammatory process. The pain is often described as gnawing and worse when waking up early in the morning, during and after every activity. The pain and discomfort brought about by this condition may vary from mild to very severe that even the mere contact of a blanket to the affected area produces excruciating pain. It is necessary for the individual experiencing this condition to manage gout attacks to prevent this condition from occurring again. Studies show that people with gout will more likely experience the attack from time to time especially if symptoms are left unmanaged.

There are several home remedies which can be done during gout attacks. When the first sign of pain and discomfort is noticed, it is necessary for the person to immediately stop the activity which is believed to trigger the gout attack. Immobilizing the affected area through the use of splints or straps is also necessary to keep the area from moving, thus making room for healing process to take place. Applying an ice pack or cold compress directly over the area reduces the inflammation. Once the swelling has subsided, it is necessary to perform physical activities in order to keep the affected joints mobile. Range-of-motion exercises are recommended to allow movement of the affected areas. Warm up and cooling down exercises is also beneficial in preventing recurrence of gout attacks.

Since gout causes include diet and having a sedentary lifestyle, people with this condition can greatly benefit from modifying their lifestyle. With this, the individual is recommended to have a healthy balanced diet packed with essential nutrients, as well as vitamins and minerals. Since gout attacks occur due to high levels of uric acid in the blood, it is necessary to avoid foods that contain excessive amounts of uric acid such as seafood, organ meats and certain vegetables like legumes and spinach. Rehydration is also the key to prevent the recurrence of gout attacks. Experts suggest to consume at least eight six-ounce of fluid preferably water, daily. With these strategies, having another gout attack can be prevented.

Hip Joint Pain

Hip pain is a common problem especially to people who reach the age of 40 and above. This condition is very confusing since there are many possible causes for its occurrence. Making an accurate diagnosis is important so that the condition will receive appropriate treatment and management. Traumatic injuries have been identified as the leading cause of hip pain. Other common causes of hip pain include arthritis, bursitis, tendonitis, osteonecrosis, lumbar pain, snapping hip syndrome, strained muscles, as well as hip and stress fracture. Inflammation usually leads to this painful condition. Pain, swelling, warmth and burning sensation are the common manifestations of inflammation.

Oftentimes, the pain brought about by this condition is not felt directly over the hip. In some cases, the pain and discomfort is felt in some other areas near the hip such as the groin or in the middle of the thigh. There area also some cases in which hip pain is only a manifestation of aches and back problems rather than a hip problem itself. Children who frequently experience hip pain may be suffering from developmental dysplasia or Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease. These childhood problems may not usually be very painful but these problems can eventually lead to problems with walking and a delay in growth and development.

It is recommended to immediately seek medical help for sudden hip pain since sudden occurrence of pain in these areas may indicate hip fracture. Older people are more prone to experience hip fractures. In aging, tissues such as muscles, tendons and joints, tend to loss its elasticity, strength and flexibility subjecting it to injuries such as fractures. Some health problems that lead to decrease in bone density like osteoporosis are also risk factors for hip fractures. People suffering with osteoporosis are more likely to have fractures by performing even simple activities that normally do not cause such injuries to others.

It is necessary to do essential measures that will manage hip pain. Pain medications can be taken in order to provide immediate pain relief. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or NSAIDs such as aspirin and ibuprofen are proven to be effective not only in relieving pain and discomfort but also in reducing the swelling. In severe cases of hip pain more potent medications such as corticosteroids and morphine may be used. It is also recommended to place pillows in between the legs when lying on your side during rest. This will help provide comfort.

It is important to keep in mind that although joint pain in hip is common, it is recommended to consult one’s physician when pain lasts for longer periods. Hip fractures are medical emergency and require immediate treatment and management. Home remedies for hip pain must not replace medical management as this condition can lead to serious complications when left untreated.

Drugs Used to Treat ADHD

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder is the most common behavioral disorder among school age children. It is most common in males than in females. A smaller population of adults is also diagnosed with this condition. Children with this behavioral disorder are known to manifest overactivity, increased irritability, age-inappropriate inattention and inability to focus and concentrate on most activities. Early diagnosis is important in order to prevent the signs and symptoms of children with this condition from worsening. Diagnosing ADHD is done by an expert clinician through the use of a diagnostic tool known as DSM-IV diagnostic criteria.

There is no known exact cure for ADHD since studies have not yet been able to identify the actual etiology of this disorder. The goal of treatment and management for this disorder is to relieve and minimize the ADHD signs and symptoms. If children with ADHD do not receive immediate management for their signs and symptoms, their condition may worsen and greatly affect their home and school performance, as well as their relationship with other family members and their peers. The most common treatment used for children with ADHD is through the use of stimulant medications.

Ritalin is the drug of choice for ADHD. It is classified as a methylphenidate with other brands known as Concerta, Metadate and Methylin. It has been approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of ADHD. This drug immediately and effectively reduces the signs and symptoms of ADHD in children under the age of 18 years. It allows people with this condition to have a life which is as close to normal as possible. Among the many disadvantages that come with the use of Ritalin include nervousness, insomnia, dizziness, palpitations, anorexia and nausea. In rare cases, this drug can also cause drug dependence.

Another drug which is commonly used as treatment for ADHD is amphetamine and dextroamphetamine. Adderall is the most popular drug under this classification. It is also known as a treatment for narcolepsy. Studies have shown that Adderall significantly reduces ADHD symptoms. The beneficial effects of this drug usually last for several hours depending on the dosage. However, this drug also posses several serious side effects such as body malaise or weakness, delayed growth and development, extreme weight loss, increased heart rate, and cardiac arrhythmia.

Some medications used as treatment for ADHD take longer time for its effects to be noticed such as Adderall. Other longer acting stimulants include Vyvanse, Daytrana, and Focalin XR. These medications last for 8 to 12 hours and therefore can be taken once daily. This ADHD medication for children is usually beneficial for those who experience difficulty in taking medications at school. There are certain studies that show the effectiveness of shorter acting stimulant medications for managing signs and symptoms of ADHD. Examples of these drugs are Ritalin SR, Methylin Chewable Tablet and Oral Solution, Dexedrine, Dextrostat, Metadate ER, and Methylin ER.

Other known medications used to manage signs and symptoms of ADHD are Intuniv, Strattera, Provigil or Modafanil, Wellbutrin, TCA or tricyclic antidepressants, and Risperdal. There are a wide variety of medications which can be used for children with ADHD. However, it is best for parents to consult experts with regards to the treatment and management of their children’s conditions. Medications coupled with exercise, adequate rest and sleep, as well as healthy balanced diet are best ways to help relieve the signs and symptoms of this condition.

What You Should Know About Dental Implants

It is estimated that approximately more than 200 million Americans have incomplete set of teeth while 1 out of 10 adult American has no teeth at all. Others may not see it as a problem. However, an incomplete set of teeth or having no teeth can also cause some problems. Among these problems are discomforts especially when chewing foods, weakening of the bite, and these may also cause harm to other neighboring teeth. Fortunately, experts were able to discover and find a solution for problems such as those mentioned. One of the more popular ways to solve this problem is through the use of dental implants.

Experts created artificial teeth which are placed and anchored the mandibular bone. These artificial teeth are known as dental implants. Dental implants are becoming more popular worldwide. In the United States alone, more than half million dental implants are estimated to be performed in the country annually. Majority of the population are satisfied with regards to the outcome of their dental implants. But unfortunately, not everyone can afford to have and use these implants. Aside from the fact that it is expensive, implants also have certain risks. It is advisable to make use of implants if only there are a few lacking teeth because replacing the entire set of teeth with dental implants costs thousands of dollars and several longer sessions with the dentists.

Titanium is the main component of a dental implant. It is a metal which weighs less and comes with high quality and durability. This metal has lesser chances to be rejected by the body. It has also been found that titanium fuses well with bone tissues. Dental implants made of titanium are formed as metal screws which will then be anchored and implanted deep into the mandibular bone or simply, the jawbone. It functions to hold the false tooth or the complete set of teeth in place. It was in 1965 that this procedure was first performed but it was only in 1986 that the American Dental Association (ADA) approved it to be widely practiced.

When deciding to have dental implants, it is important to discuss thoroughly all the concerns with the dentist especially when it comes to the benefits, risks and probable outcome of this procedure. People who are often advised and approved to have dental implants are those healthy individuals who only intend to replace few missing teeth. Dentists also consider if the person have enough bone since it is where the implants will be anchored. Several contraindications with regards to dental implants include use of medications such as corticosteroids, diabetes mellitus, anemia and other health problems that may comprise the healing process following the procedure. Smokers and chronic alcohol drinkers are also not advised to have dental implants.

Dental implants cost more compared to other older selections such as dentures and bridges. These choices can be finished in a matter of weeks unlike dental implants which usually takes several months for it to complete. However, if it is desired to only fill minimal gaps without involving neighboring teeth, dental implant is the perfect solution. Everything must be considered and planned well before deciding to have implants. Dental implant cost, the nature of the procedure, advantages and risks must altogether be evaluated and discussed thoroughly with an expert since there are also chances that the procedure will fail.

What You Should Know About Breast Augmentation

Recently, more and more women choose to undergo surgery in order to reconstruct and enhance their appearance. The most popular cosmetic surgery procedure involves increasing and enhancing the size of the breasts of a woman. In 1997, approximately 101,000 cases of breast augmentation are performed. However, in the present year, this number of cases more than tripled. Breast augmentation, which is also known as augmentation mammaplasty, involves the use of implants to fulfill the desire to have fuller breasts. Breast augmentation may also be used for reconstructive purposes especially for women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent modified radical mastectomy (MRM) which involves the removal of the entire breast to prevent the spread of malignancy.

Breast augmentation involves the use of silicone or saline breast implants. These implants can either be placed behind the breast tissue or beneath the chest muscle to add size, shape, and fullness to the breast. It can also help in balancing breasts that are asymmetrical and restore its fullness which has been diminished as a result of aging, pregnancy, as well as accidents and other health conditions which often lead to wasting and tissue atrophy. The process of breast augmentation may take several weeks from the first consultation to the post-operative period. This process requires thorough and constant communication between the surgeon and the client.

Before making decisions with regards to having breast augmentation, it is very important for the client to gain understanding and knowledge with regards to the procedure, its risks, benefits and probable results. Usually for about a few weeks, the client will be able to fully recover. However, it is important to keep in mind that the actual time it will take for the client to fully recover from the procedure depends primarily on the client’s present health status and condition, as well as with the degree of the enlargement, and several other factors.

There are also some serious risks associated with breast augmentation. Examples of more common risks of this surgical procedure include contractures, sepsis and ruptured breast implants. Implants are expected to break and rupture eventually although how many years it will take for the implants to break has not yet been clearly identified. In some cases, breast implants may take 7 to 12 years or even more than 15 years, without being ruptured while in other cases, even after a few months following the surgery, the implants are already ruptured.

Some people argue that breast implants can cause diseases and other illnesses such as autoimmune diseases, malignancy, and even death. But there have been no strong evidences that prove to these claims. Breast augmentation may considered be a problem especially to lactating or breastfeeding mothers. Studies show that in most cases of breast implants, there is a reduced and inadequate milk production to meet the needs of the newborn. Other studies also found out that the milk produced by a woman who has undergone this surgical procedure contains significant amount of toxins compared to a breastfeeding woman who has no breast implants.

It is important for women who are thinking of having breast augmentation to consult first with an expert. This will allow them to gain insight with regards to both the benefits and disadvantages of breast augmentation. These women must evaluate thoroughly whether the benefits of this procedure outweigh the risks brought about by this kind of surgery.

Vitamins for ADHD

ADHD is a chronic syndrome of age-inappropriate inattention, distractibility, restlessness, overactivity and impulsivity. Over the years, researchers are continuously conducting studies in order to find out the cure for ADHD. It is difficult for them, as of now, because the exact cause of this neurological disorder is still unknown. But recently, experts were able to point out several possible causes of ADHD. These findings led them to the development of new treatments and managements for this behavioral condition.

The best-documented and most widely used treatment for ADHD is through psychoactive medications, stimulants in particular. Among the most common examples of these are Ritalin, Concerta, Methyline, Adderall and Dexedrine. But these medications have serious side effects that concern the families of children diagnosed with this disorder. Some common serious side effects include weight loss, anorexia, changes in blood pressure, sedation, increased risk for seizures, and growth retardation. Because of these side effects, several other alternative treatments have been used. These include vitamin supplements.

Although what actually causes ADHD has not yet been identified, many experts associate this behavioral disorder with certain vitamins and minerals deficiencies. Essential fatty acids are found to be helpful in improving ADHD. Foods that contain high amount of EFA include salmon, fish oils, walnut, and flaxseeds should be part of the child’s diet. EFA is known to help in the brain development of the child, and to improve its functioning. It is also important for parents to identify whether their children have some food allergies. Other herbal remedies like Chinese herbs are also found to be helpful for children with ADHD.

Iron supplements are recommended for children, especially those diagnosed with ADHD since many studies support that this condition is somehow related with low levels of some components of the red blood cells. Iron must be taken with vitamin C in order to increase its absorption. But parents must remember that excessive dosage of these vitamins and minerals are toxic and harmful for their children. There are various studies suggesting that zinc deficiency may cause hyperactivity. Although this mineral has nothing to do with inattention, it is recommended for children with ADHD to take zinc supplements. This will reduce signs and symptoms of overactivity in these children.

Another vitamin which is essential for brain development is the vitamin B6. This vitamin which is also referred to as pyridoxine, has proven to be as effective as Ritalin in treating symptoms of ADHD and with lesser side effects compared to this stimulant drug. Vitamins for ADD must be given together with a healthy and balanced diet. There are a lot of vitamins and minerals that are known to be helpful in managing ADHD. However, parents must first consult experts when considering giving their children vitamin supplements for their condition.

Types of ADHD

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder or ADHD is the most commonly diagnosed behavior disorder, occurring in 3 to 8 percent in the school age population. It also appears in smaller proportion of adults. This condition is a chronic syndrome of age-inappropriate inattention, overactivity, distractibility, impulsivity and restlessness. ADHD is more commonly seen in men than in women. However, in adult-diagnosed cases, ADHD affects both genders equally. It is important to educate parents, family members and other caregivers with regards to the nature of ADHD, its complications and comorbidity, prevention, treatment, and palliation. A thorough understanding is essential with regards to ADHD since it is considered to be a controversial issue.

Experts, researchers and majority of the population challenge the validity of the diagnosis, as well as the most common and best-documented treatment which is the stimulant medication. ADHD is diagnosed by clinicians through DSM-IV diagnostic criteria. The exact etiology of ADHD is not yet known but many research studies are being conducted in order to identify the actual cause of ADHD. Most studies suggest that ADHD has a biologic basis. According to them, most children diagnosed with ADHD have an immediate relative who are also suffering with the same condition, whether a parent, sibling or other close family member. Other probable causes of ADHD according to several studies include environmental factors, brain injuries, certain vitamin and mineral deficiencies and food additives.

The Diagnostic & Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders or DSM-IV diagnostic criteria identified three types of ADHD. These include the predominantly inattentive type, hyperactive-impulsive type and the combined type. In the predominantly inattentive type, all inattention symptoms are present while no hyperactivity-impulsivity symptoms are seen. Some common inattention symptoms are lack of focus and attention to detail, difficulty in concentration, inability to pay close attention, difficulty in following simple instructions, forgetfulness and absent mindedness.

The second type of ADHD which is the hyperactive-impulsive type involves symptoms of overactivity and impulsivity. In this type of ADHD, no signs and symptoms of inattention can be observed. Some signs and symptoms predominant in this type include constant fidgeting, difficulty and inability to keep still or stay in one place, inappropriate hyperactive behaviors such as running and shouting most of the time, inability to quietly perform activities, frequently interrupts conversation and excessive talkativeness.

There are also some ADHD children who manifest signs and symptoms that are both present in the predominantly inattentive type and hyperactive-impulsive type. This subtype of ADHD is known as the combined type. Most cases of ADHD have the combined type. It is important to identify what type of ADHD does the child has in order to easily identify the goal of treatment and management to be used. The treatment of choice for ADHD is the use of stimulant medications. Although researchers have not yet been able to identify the exact treatment that will completely cure this condition, parents and other family members should always be there for their ADHD children to care and provide their special needs since these children rely on them on the hopes of achieving success.

Tips for Bridal Hairstyles

Wedding ceremony is a once in a lifetime event. It is the most special day in the life of both the bride and the groom. Therefore, everything must be planned well with regards to this event, from minute details such as the design and style of the wedding jewelry to the most noticeable parts like the bridal gown. One thing which should also be included in detailed planning is the hairstyle of the bride. The bride deserves to look best during this very special day in her lifetime. This must be planned months or even years before the wedding event to allow time for the hair grow, especially if the preferred hairstyles require longer length of hair, and also having longer hair will give more options with regards to what bridal hairstyles to use.

Over the years, brides prefer traditional hairstyles. These include the up do style, long hair styles, and medium-length hair styles. An up do hairstyle involves the use of elegant hair accessories such as hairpins and hair claws. Both long and medium-length hair can be used for an up do hairstyle. One of its advantages is the fact that you can wear it during the wedding ceremony for a more formal and elegant effect then loosen the hairpins during the reception to create a different style and look.

Another hairstyle which can be used for the event is the long wedding hairstyle. The hair is simply worn down. It is considered to be one of the most flexible hairstyles since the hair can be worn from curly, wavy hair, ponytail to a straight hair. On the other hand, a medium-length hairstyle makes use of a hair that is being worn down approximately above the shoulders, and just below the nape of the neck. Just like with the long hairstyle, the hair may be curled or pulled straight, whichever the bride prefers.

Modern brides prefer more sophisticated hairstyles. A perfect example for this is a shorter hairstyle. It gives the bride a sassier look during this very special event in her life. This hairstyle can be matched with a tiara, or a coronet to create a more unique and elegant look. The bride must keep in mind that when choosing for the hairstyle, it must match the entire wedding outfit from the bridal gown, the shoes to be worn, and the bridal jewelries. It is important to remember that the simplicity of the bridal gown and the bridal hairstyle should match the ambience of the event.

Planning ahead of time with regards to the bridal hairstyles is very important. The bride can choose from a variety of hairstyles from various magazines, hair studios, and other published materials, as well as hairstyle and bridal webpages. It is also necessary for the bride hair to be as healthy as possible by using hair care products that are available. This will ensure the bride that her hair will be healthy and strong during the event. The bride must also talk and discuss her plans with the hair stylist weeks or even months before in order to allot enough time to prepare well before this big event.

The Pink Wedding Dress

Over the past years, brides have been wearing plain white wedding dresses during this very memorable and special event in their lives. It is considered to be the traditional way of dressing up during this solemn occasion. However, as the years passed, designers developed new styles with varying colors of wedding dresses. Among these include ivory and red wedding dresses. There are also some brides who prefer pink bridal gowns. It is the most important event in her life. Therefore, it is important to wear something which the bride mostly desires.

Others may have second thoughts wearing a pink wedding dress while marching along the aisle down the altar. It is normal to have such thoughts since we expect that the elder wedding guests may not approve with the color of the bridal gown. But there are also some important things to consider when choosing to wear a pink wedding dress. Recently, in the fashion industry, pink bridal gowns are gaining more popularity. It is preferred by the population. The color pink symbolizes femininity, romance and pure love.

Brides who have fairer skin complexion, wearing plain white wedding dresses may not be such a good idea. It does not rightly matches women with fairer skin tone. Therefore, a pink wedding dress can be the perfect solution. Other shades of pink are widely available and can be chosen as well especially if the bride does not prefer and is not comfortable with bold shades of pink like fuchsia or rose pink. Lighter shades of pink include baby pink and pastel pink. Gowns with pink accents and accessories may also be chosen in this case.

Having a pink wedding dress will also most likely allow the couple to save some significant amount. Traditional white wedding dresses may cost more compared to pink bridal gowns. There are a lot of pink dresses available in the market which cost less but come with great quality. Quality must not be compensated especially when planning or shopping for a dress to be worn during this very special and memorable event. Less expensive wedding dresses may still be durable and at the same time, elegant and beautiful.

The pink wedding dress must also match the entire wedding attire of the bride. It should go well with the shoes, the hairstyles, and the wedding jewelry set worn by the bride. The attire of the groom should have something which will also match the pink bridal gown. This will give a more elegant and beautiful effect on the wedding attire of both the bride and the groom. The wedding attire of the bridesmaid must also match the style and color of the bridal gown. It must be or have something of the same shade of the pink wedding dress.

The wedding ceremony will forever be an important and unforgettable event in the life of the couple. If it is the bride’s dream to walk down the aisle wearing a pink wedding dress then it should be made possible. The opinion of others must not affect the desires of the man and woman to be married.

The Father of the Groom Speech

The main events during the wedding day include the giving of speeches by the persons close to the bride and the groom. Hearing the speech from the father of the groom is a very special moment not only for the groom, but most especially for the bride, as she is being welcomed into the family by her father-in-law. This is a once in a lifetime event. The father of the groom will also be sharing experiences and learning from his married life which is very important for both the husband and wife.

Preparing the father of the groom speech is not an easy task. It must be planned well. Others may think that is possible to deliver an impromptu speech. Although this sounds true and exciting, the father of the groom must put in mind that this is a very special event and therefore, must be planned well beforehand. It is vital to think of all the things the father of the groom has to say and create a list from it. This will allow all essential things to be mentioned in the speech and prevent omitting important things from being part of the speech. Some of the important subjects which should be part of the speech include advice for both the bride and the groom, welcoming the bride as part of the family, encouraging and words of wisdom for the couple.

After planning for the speech and creating the list, the next important thing to do is to prepare the speech. This can be done by writing it on a piece of paper, notepad, index card or clue cards. This will provide details and an outline which makes it easier for the father of the groom to be familiarized with. Sometimes, it may be necessary to write it clearly, in big letters so that it will be much easier to read anytime and anywhere which will then allow the father of the groom to memorize the outline of the speech more.

To create the perfect speech, it is important to deliver a speech which is sincere and genuine. It must be heartfelt. The speech must contain the right emotion for the event. For example, when addressing to the bride, it may be necessary for the father of the groom to compliment her by praising the groom for choosing the perfect girl. This will create a friendly and warm atmosphere, while at the same time, making the bride feel important and special. The father of the groom may also consider sharing some funny and memorable stories of his son. Childhood stories will make the speech more humorous. However, when sharing stories of the groom, it is important to leave behind stories which include his past relationships with other women. This may ruin the night of the bride.

The perfect father of the groom speech must also include the part in which the groom father gives his son advices especially about marriage. Although there are various prepared speeches that can be of great help, it is important to keep in mind that the more personal the speech is, the more it will become memorable, touching and unforgettable.

Sample Bridal Shower Wording

For many years, people practice giving gifts to future wives weeks or even days before their wedding. This custom is known as bridal shower. It is a gift-giving party which is common in countries such as the United States, Canada and in Australia. According to some sociologists, the ritual of bridal shower allows women to socialize into hyper-feminized traditional wife role. Traditional shower gifts include things for the bedroom and the kitchen. Bridal showers are often held during afternoons and evenings.

Usually the bridal shower is hosted by one or more close friends of the bride-to-be. At times, it may also be one among the bridesmaids. Relatives and other family members of the bride should not host bridal showers since the goal of the event is to ask gifts from guests and it is inappropriate to ask gifts for their own family member. Close family members and future in-laws can host other non-gift-oriented parties for the bride-to-be such as bridesmaids’ luncheon or engagement announcement party.

The bride commonly invites close family members and friends as guests for the bridal shower. In some countries like Canada, brides may prefer to have bridal showers with more than 200 guests. However, more brides opt to celebrate this special event only with their closest friends and family members. There are also some social clubs and organizations which host bridal showers for its members who are getting married.  In general, guests during bridal showers are mainly invited during the wedding ceremony.

When inviting guests for a bridal shower, it is important to have the right bridal shower invitation wording which will inform the guests well enough with regards to the event.  The basic essential information that must be included in the bridal shower invitation includes the complete name of the bride, the date, time and venue of the event, as well as RSVP name and number and Date to RSVP. In some cases, the name of the groom may also be included.

Other necessary information which can also be included in the bridal shower invitation are the theme of the bridal shower and gifts, date of the wedding event, names of the hosts and where the bride is registered. Common themes of shower and gifts include garden, linen or lingerie shower. If the host plans a surprise shower for the bride, it must be clearly stated on the invitation for the plan to succeed. It is also important to emphasize what time the guests are expected to arrive especially if a surprise bridal shower is planned.

The host may choose to have a traditional bridal shower invitation wording or they may also choose to have an invitation wording filled with humor. Here is a sample of a traditional bridal shower wording, Please join us for a bridal shower honoring our dearest friend, Jodi Picoult on Saturday October 28, 4 pm at the home of Kamil and Jackielyn Ross, 47 Anywhere Drive, Springfield. Hosts may also choose to make it more unique and humorous by making it more personal. The important thing to consider in making bridal shower invitation is to make it creative. This will make the event more memorable to the bride-to-be and to the guests as well.

Paranoid Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia is a psychological disorder which is characterized by disorganized thought processes. Among its common manifestations include auditory hallucinations, illusions and paranoid or bizarre delusions. It causes impaired and disruptive social functioning. This psychological condition is also accompanied with disorganized speech and thinking. Diagnosing schizophrenia is done by a thorough observation and evaluation of the signs and symptoms presented, as well as previous experiences reported by the person. Factors that are commonly associated with schizophrenia include family history, environment, childhood experiences, psychological and social processes. Prescription drugs have also been found to cause and even worsen the symptoms of schizophrenia.

In most parts of the world, paranoid schizophrenia is considered to be the most common type of schizophrenia. Its characteristics include relatively stable, often paranoid, delusions. These delusions are usually accompanied by auditory hallucinations, and perceptual disturbances. In paranoid schizophrenia, disturbances in affect or mood, volition, and speech, and catatonic symptoms are not evident. The most common characteristics of this condition are persecutory delusions, reference, exalted birth, special mission, bodily change, or jealousy. Patients diagnosed with this condition often experience auditory hallucinations in which they claim to hear voices that give commands and threaten them. Auditory hallucinations without verbal form, such as whistling, humming, or laughing have also been reported in some patients.

Paranoid schizophrenia may occur with partial or complete remissions. Some cases of paranoid schizophrenia are also chronic. In chronic cases, the signs and symptoms experienced tend to last for years in which discrete episodes are difficult to detect and identify. Studies show that this mental disorder is usually diagnosed in younger men who are 17 to 35 years of age compared to women who often do not manifest symptoms until they reach the age of 20 to 30 years of age. Imbalances in the amount of neurotransmitters or certain brain chemicals are identified to be the main cause of paranoid schizophrenia. Other studies also suggest the strong link between this mental condition with complications during birth and problems in the early stages of life.

The primary paranoid schizophrenia treatment is antipsychotic or neuroleptic drugs. It has been widely proven to be effective in relieving symptoms associated with paranoid schizophrenia. Clozapine, Thorazine, Haldol, and Risperdal are examples of antipsychotic medications. Since schizophrenia may also be accompanied with anxiety disorders, anti-anxiety medications may also be prescribed. Counseling and other therapies are needed by the patient in order to manage this mental condition. In severe cases of paranoid schizophrenia, hospitalization in a locked facility or restraining the patient may be required especially if the patient poses threat to himself and to others.

It is important to understand that there is no known exact cure and treatment for paranoid schizophrenia. It is a lifelong mental disorder. The disorder may worsen over time especially if no treatment and management are done to relieve the symptoms. Having strong support system such as family members, close relatives and friends also play important roles in the progress of the client’s condition. Psychological and emotional support significantly affects the success of the treatment.

Osteoporosis Prevention and Treatment

An estimated number of 75 million people across the globe, particularly in the United States, Europe and Japan, are diagnosed with osteoporosis. It is a condition more commonly experienced by women who are above 50 years old. Studies show that about 1 out of 3 women over 50 years of age experience fractures associated with osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a condition which is characterized by a reduced density of the bone leading to a decrease in its strength. This will then lead to fragile bones, making it prone to frequent injuries and fractures.

Osteoporosis leads to extremely porous bones. This condition happens when bone tissues lose significant amount of protein and other mineral content, particularly calcium. This bone disorder predisposes a person to injuries such as fractures which often heal slowly and poorly. Several factors increase the risk of developing osteoporosis. Some of these include age, gender, race, figure type, lifestyle and diet. This condition is more likely to occur on older people, postmenopausal women, Caucasian and Asian women. There are also some research studies which have identified family history as a factor for the development of osteoporosis.

Lifestyle modification is the effective way to prevent the development of osteoporosis. Cigarette smoking and alcohol consumption have been identified as factors which may contribute to the development of this condition. Therefore, it is necessary to avoid smoking and excessive alcohol drinking. Caffeinated beverages must be avoided as well. It is recommended to reduce the intake of high dietary protein as this may increase excretion of calcium from the body which will then lead to increased risk for developing osteoporosis.

Diagnosing osteoporosis can be performed through radiography, dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA or DEXA). It can also be diagnosed through quantitative CT and ultrasound. Screening tests with the use of bone densitometry are recommended especially to women above 65 years old. Osteoporosis treatment involves the use of several drug classifications such as antiresorptive agents and bone anabolic agents. The drug of choice for women suffering with this condition is biphosphonate drugs which fall under the category of antiresorptive agents. In some cases, osteoporosis can cause serious fractures and in these cases, surgery may be indicated.

It is recommended for people diagnosed with osteoporosis to improve their nutrition by consuming foods rich in vitamins and minerals that promote muscle strength. Food supplements containing calcium and vitamin D are essential. Calcium is important for bone growth and healing while vitamin D enhances the absorption of calcium from the blood into the bone. Several studies also show the importance of physical activities such as resistance, stretching and weight bearing exercises in maintaining and increasing bone density. Excellent examples of these exercises include aerobics, dancing, climbing the stairs, jogging, tennis and weight lifting. It is helpful to be exercising is at least 20 to 30 minutes three to four times per week to prevent osteoporosis.

Not Everyone Can Wear a Strapless Wedding Dress

Over the years, designers have continued to create wedding gowns with more sophisticated and unique styles and designs. A strapless wedding gown is among the style of choice of many brides for the past few years.  However, not all who adore strapless wedding gowns can wear it on their wedding day. There are body structures which perfectly suit this kind of bridal gown while there are also some body types which do not go well with the style of this wedding dress.

Designers prefer body structures which are proportional. This female body shape is moderately tall, with a body balanced vertically. The hourglass body shape is also perfect for a strapless wedding dress. This is described with a well-defined waist and same width of full hip-line and full bust-line. It can also fit those brides with a triangle body type. This body type is often referred to as a pear shaped body figure. A bride with this kind of body figure has a full bust-line which is narrower than her full hip-line and a well defined waist. Narrow shoulders, full thighs and full rounded bottom are also among its typical characteristics, as well as a balanced body or short legged vertical body shape.

A strapless wedding dress is not recommended for brides who have an inverted triangle body figure. This body shape is characterized with a proportionally large bust and broad shoulders. Narrow hips with well defined waists, flat bottom and long legged vertical body shape with proportionally slim legs are also some of its other characteristics. A strapless wedding dress will emphasize areas certain areas in the body such as the neck, chest, shoulders, waists and arms. Therefore, it is important that the bride has these body areas lean and proportional.

If these body areas are a problem, the bride can choose not to wear a strapless wedding dress or she may opt to wear something to cover up these areas in an elegant way such as wedding shawl, bridal wrap or jacket. It will help increase the curves of the bride in a noble and elegant way. For a bride with a shorter neck, it may be helpful to have a wedding dress with low strapless neckline. Strapless wedding dress will help make the bride with a longer waist, appear to have a more proportional torso. On the other hand, the bride with a shorter waist will need to have a strapless wedding dress style which has a drop waist bodice or a princess line dress.

Since the strapless wedding dress emphasizes the bust area, it is important to design a dress that will perfectly support and fit that particular area. This style of wedding dress are perfect for brides who have an average to slightly full bust line. However, for the bride who do not have the same figures but prefer to wear a strapless gown on the day of her wedding, certain ways can be done to make it possible. For a full busted bride, it is important to be very careful in showing cleavage. The curve of the bust area must perfectly fit the actual curve of the bust. The neckline height must be high as well to prevent too much cleavage showing. Keep in mind that to have the strapless wedding gown that will fit the bride depends on the how smooth the strapless wedding gown fits at the neckline front and back.
