Insanity vs. P90x

One of the most popular ways to burn fats and get in shape at home is through the use of fitness DVDs.  Many people prefer to exercise at the comfort of their own home. They can perform the exercises without having to go to the gym, enroll in a workout class or pay additional fees to the fitness instructors or personal trainers. However, others are complaining in terms of the effectiveness of these fitness DVDs. For them, fitness DVDs are not challenging enough compared to that when they are working out at the gym. However, this problem has been addressed through the development of various challenging fitness programs in combination with simple diet guidelines and nutritional supplements which have been proven to be effective in helping people achieve their goals.

There are two exercise programs that are common to the society nowadays.  These fitness programs have been popularized by Beachbody which is the creator of the most well known in-home fitness and weight loss solutions. The first one is the P90x workout program which instantly gained popularity because of its all-in-one program. Its goal is not only to increase the size of the muscles but also to lose weight, maintain balance and improve the functioning of the cardiovascular system. It involves 12 workouts which involve trainings that are directed for the development of lean muscles and enhanced metabolism. People can expect the results within 90 days of engaging in the program. P90x also involves fitness guides and nutritional plans, as well as a calendar which is effective in tracking the progress in terms of losing fat and building muscle. It also provides 24/7 support which allows people to consult and talk to P90x experts.

Beachbody created a more intense in-home fitness program which is the Insanity workout program. 10 workout DVDs are packed with plyometric drills. In this exercise program, there are no equipments and weights involved. The person is expected to perform intense exercises with less time of rest periods. The goal of Insanity workout program is to burn up to 1000 calories just in 1 hour. The results can be seen in 60 days. The 10 Insane workouts are the Dig Deeper and Fit Test, Plyometric Cardio Circuit, Cardio Power and Resistance, Cardio Recovery, Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs, Core Cardio and Balance, Max Interval Circuit and Fit Test, Max Interval Plyo, Max Cardio Conditioning and Cardio Abs and Max Recovery. It also includes packages such as nutritional plan, fitness guide, and Insanity calendar designed to track out the progress and set workout goals to keep one determined and motivated.

It is important to assess first one’s own capability of committing to such exercise programs. According to some users, Insanity workout is more of strengthening and improving the cardio strength while P90x is more on building and enhancing muscle strength. Both P90x and Insanity workout program are effective to people who are willing to spend their time in such home fitness program. Discipline is the key.
