SECURITY SYSTEMS

It has always been a basic instinct for human beings to protect themselves and their properties from any identifiable threat. Even indwellers from long ago manifested this basic instinct by hiding inside huge caves to protect themselves from outsiders and other predators. In the present days, people realized that they should be more protected not against from any hunting predators but from the danger brought about by intruders, damage, loss and criminal activity. This prompted the need for technological advancement that will cater the need of the society with regards to their security. Thus, security system was born.

Security system is designed to protect the public from certain identifiable threats such as burglars, bombs, fires, etc. Urban population has become more aware on the significance of having security systems in their homes. Burglar or intrusion alarm is the most widely used alarm system inside the household. It is an electronic alarm used to alert the user if there are any intruders within the vicinity. Burglar alarms are further divided into two main types – home burglar alarms and perimeter intrusion detection.

However, security system is not only limited to the physical realm like airport, food, hospital, physical, school, shopping center and infrastructure security; it also covers other aspects such as the IT realm, political and monetary. The IT realm includes application, computing, data, information and network security. The political realm deals more with homeland, human, international, national and public security while monetary specifically deals with financial security.

There are a lot of technological innovations available which serves to protect the public; it can be purchased online or in the market which ranges from low-end to high-end devices. These are available in the market as CCTV monitors, intrusion alarm system, fire alarm and sprinkle monitor, hold-up or panic alarm and simple burglar alarms. It significantly contributes in helping the society prevent the incidence of burglary and other criminal activities.

It should be noted that in security systems, the “weakest link in the chain” is the one to be given more value. The protector needs to put into consideration and foresee all the possible points of attack from the intruder while on the other hand, the intruder need only analyze and pinpoint one single weak spot to focus with. However, this should not be a problem since many companies release a variety of quality products to secure households and protect important possessions.
