Sample Bridal Shower Wording

For many years, people practice giving gifts to future wives weeks or even days before their wedding. This custom is known as bridal shower. It is a gift-giving party which is common in countries such as the United States, Canada and in Australia. According to some sociologists, the ritual of bridal shower allows women to socialize into hyper-feminized traditional wife role. Traditional shower gifts include things for the bedroom and the kitchen. Bridal showers are often held during afternoons and evenings.

Usually the bridal shower is hosted by one or more close friends of the bride-to-be. At times, it may also be one among the bridesmaids. Relatives and other family members of the bride should not host bridal showers since the goal of the event is to ask gifts from guests and it is inappropriate to ask gifts for their own family member. Close family members and future in-laws can host other non-gift-oriented parties for the bride-to-be such as bridesmaids’ luncheon or engagement announcement party.

The bride commonly invites close family members and friends as guests for the bridal shower. In some countries like Canada, brides may prefer to have bridal showers with more than 200 guests. However, more brides opt to celebrate this special event only with their closest friends and family members. There are also some social clubs and organizations which host bridal showers for its members who are getting married.  In general, guests during bridal showers are mainly invited during the wedding ceremony.

When inviting guests for a bridal shower, it is important to have the right bridal shower invitation wording which will inform the guests well enough with regards to the event.  The basic essential information that must be included in the bridal shower invitation includes the complete name of the bride, the date, time and venue of the event, as well as RSVP name and number and Date to RSVP. In some cases, the name of the groom may also be included.

Other necessary information which can also be included in the bridal shower invitation are the theme of the bridal shower and gifts, date of the wedding event, names of the hosts and where the bride is registered. Common themes of shower and gifts include garden, linen or lingerie shower. If the host plans a surprise shower for the bride, it must be clearly stated on the invitation for the plan to succeed. It is also important to emphasize what time the guests are expected to arrive especially if a surprise bridal shower is planned.

The host may choose to have a traditional bridal shower invitation wording or they may also choose to have an invitation wording filled with humor. Here is a sample of a traditional bridal shower wording, Please join us for a bridal shower honoring our dearest friend, Jodi Picoult on Saturday October 28, 4 pm at the home of Kamil and Jackielyn Ross, 47 Anywhere Drive, Springfield. Hosts may also choose to make it more unique and humorous by making it more personal. The important thing to consider in making bridal shower invitation is to make it creative. This will make the event more memorable to the bride-to-be and to the guests as well.
